Treasurer Judith MacGibbon judith@minnesotaviolasociety.org
Judith MacGibbon is a graduate of the University of Minnesota, and has studied with violinist Shirley Thomson Santoro and viola with Clyn Dee Barrus (former principal violist of the Minnesota Orchestra) and with Lillian Fuchs at the Aspen Music Festival. An active free-lance performer, Judith has appeared with the Plymouth Music Series, Minnesota Opera, Pacific Northwest Ballet, the Children's Theater (How the Grinch Stole Christmas and Cinderella), Chanhassen Dinner Theaters (Nuncrackers) and toured with Red Skelton at the Corn Palace in Mitchell, South Dakota. As well as performing with the Royal Strings at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival for the past 25 years, Judith has entertained at the Norsk Hust Fest in Minot, North Dakota. She played in the orchestra for You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown at the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts in St. Paul, Minnesota and is a member of the renowned Golden Strings. In addition to subbing with the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, Judith has appeared with the following entertainers: Aretha Franklin, Harry Connick Jr., Sarah Brightman, Smokey Robinson, Ray Charles, Charlotte Church, John Tesh, and Michael Bolton.
She is a Thursday Musical performing member, MNSOTA (ASTA with NSOA) competition coordinator, and Minnesota Youth Symphonies sectional coach. Judith has done viola auditions for the Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies, has served as a YPSCA competition adjudicator and is a member of the American Viola Society. A private teacher of violin and viola, Judith maintains a private studio and is an occasional guest for master classes and festivals as well as being on the faculty of the International Music Camp, at the International Peace Gardens.
