Susan Janda

 

Susan Janda is a freelance violist in the Twin Cities, performing with the Minnesota Opera, Minnesota Orchestra, the Four Voices String Quartet and other professional ensembles since arriving in 1995. She has performed in recital with the Prospect Park Players, Thursday Musical, at Carleton College, and MacPhail Faculty Recital Series. She currently has a private studio of violists from beginners to post college and semi-pro players. Previously, she has been on the faculties of MacPhail Center for the Arts, University of Wisconsin-River Falls, St. Olaf College, Hamline University, Concordia University, and Gustavus Adolphus College.

Ms. Janda studied viola with Abraham Skernick at Indiana University (B.A. 1987), Roland Vamos at the University of Minnesota (1991-1992) Peter Slowik at Northwestern University (M.M. 1993), and John Graham and Melissa Micciche at the Eastman School of Music (1993-1995). In her spare time, she pursues asprirations as a semi-professional singer, mostly of jazz. She is married to saxophonist David Milne and has a son, Leo.
